Anybody here that can describe or post a diagram, on how is the better way to break down an average log, pertaining to growth rings ??

I plan to slab a lot of the more valuable logs, however, sometimes there is a need for smaller lumber.

Flat sawn vs. q'sawn I guess is what I'm asking ???

On a larger log, cut across the top and then take a flat sawn board or two, then drop down for flat sawn off the side of the log ??

The more I watch the tape, the more cornfuzed I are. ???  ::) ::)

Notice Harold is prepping for sawing? We talked yesterday and I think I scared him with the backlog... (no pun intended)

LucĂa and I walked the second finca and started adding up the trees that have to be removed for this years planting - probably a couple of hundred. And of course, when everyone sees what a great job he is doing - he is going to be busier than he can stand...

Lots of wood for concrete frames (which brings in a decent price) but there is a lot of other stuff as well. I can't wait to see the Peterson trying to chew through a Corteza log - think IPE with an attitude. The stuff is so hard that it won't absorb water when buried in the ground.  Perhaps Harold will think that he is cutting steel the whole time.

So, how did I end up here anyway?
