I'm not sure if Devlin has kayaks or not. Lots of nice boats and you might find something close to a Kayak under duck boats.

Try Bear Mountain Boat.com[url=http://]]]Bear Mountain Boat.com//

They have excellent books on how-to for canoes and kayaks, wood strip style.

Easy to do - fun to ride. I built one of each and enjoy them immensely.

Not a kayak, but a good distraction for feeble minds (I know first hand) http://www.simplicityboats.com/index.html a lot of small boats made from one sheet of plywood.
Or if you need something to do when the pond is frozen, http://amasci.com/amateur/hovercft.html, try a hovercraft powered by a leaf blower. I built one I ride around the shop to make my niece giggle.
Experience is something you don't get until just after you need it.

Check out www.clcboats.com

A lot of good info. They even have a forum, but its not nearly as much fun as this one!
