I bought a used (rental, 64cc-4.7hp) makita dcs6401 for $200.00 from home depot. It looked to be in very good condition and starts on the second pull. It has a 20" bar that I want to replace. Any suggestions on the size bar I should consider. The manual lists up to a 28" bar. I noticed the 6401 is not listed in the consumers oregon bar & chain booklet in the local hardware stores. Any suggestions where I could order a bar and a couple of chain loops.  I already have a chainsaw with a 20" bar. I was thinking on a 24" bar.  dave

i think dozer dan said a stihl bar could be modifided to fit a dolmar
i also think a 24" bar balances the saw better than the standard 20"

The 64,72 and the 79cc saw that are some by Makita and Dolmar use the same bar mount as the larger Husky's. So any bar for the large Husky will fit your saw, like 365,372,388,394,3120, just to name a few.

Thanks for the input on the bar. I think I'll settle for a 24" bar. Appreciate the good help.  dave
