It depends on what you're going to do with it.  I've got an 056 Super that will pull a 32", but I've got a 24" on it's  It's an older, lower speed saw, and my 460 handles a 32" much easier.  I'd say an 054 could easily pull a 28" or 32" through most wood, but you might think differently when you bury it in oak, or something of that nature.  I could be way off base, but that saw should be around 5.5 or 6 hp.  They didn't publish hp ratings back then, and the closest I got from Stihl on my 056 Super was, "should be somewhere around 6 or 6.5"  I've heard the 056 Standard was about 5.8, and the 056 Mag II was upwards of 6.9, closer to 7.

Anyone else have any ideas?

Thanks stihltech, I thought it sounded a little funny too, as I've never seen an 054.  Glad I ain't the only one.   But I certainly ain't seen it all, and didn't want to question it.  Do you mean 034, 044, 064 or 084?

There is no such model in the STIHL product line.  Must have the numbers mixed up.
