Title: MSR Grading explained
Post by: Don P on October 30, 2017, 09:38:30 PM
Dr Woeste sent a link to this article on Machine Stress Rating, a way of machine grading lumber based on how stiff it is as it is fed through a series of rollers with computer sensors. I've seen the MSR stamp for a number of years especially on engineered components like trusses where they need pretty tight segregation of different strength groups of lumber, so it is not new technology. This is a good explanation of how it works;
