Title: Wrap and strap tape for xps
Post by: dfvellone on July 12, 2017, 10:05:49 AM
Not certain this is the forum for this question, but I've completed the xps install of wrapping and strapping my timberframe and I'm ready to tape and strap. Does anybody have experience with siga wigluv and 3m all weather flashing tape that could offer an opinion? There's a good sized price difference between the two, 3m being priced lower. Thanks

I do not.  I do have a little experience with Typar tape.  Not for the purpose you are using.  But I can say that it's tacky and stays tacky, and you don't want to use it to mask off timbers because if you stick it to timbers(finshed with Heritage natural finish oil) the tape will leave adhesive residue when you try to remove it later and you'll have to use 3M adhesive remover to get it off.  So what I'm saying is it's a pretty good tape that's meant to be permanent.  Not sure how any tape will do with expanded poly styrene.

I've used both tapes and they both would work well.  The Wigluv is more money than the 8067.  They're both acrylic, which is good.  Huber Zip tape (for Zip wall) would also work well.
