Title: Complete Steam Powered Sawmill For Sale.
Post by: steamsawyer on March 01, 2017, 12:12:27 am
I have read, understand, and agree to the terms of posting an ad on the Forestry Forum.

James Leffel steam engine and James A Vance sawmill.

The steam engine was built by James Leffel & Company of Springfield, Ohio.  The horsepower, believed to be 70 to 80 HP however this is unknown, and not labeled on the engine, although the cylinder head has 10 x 10 stamped on it.  It has 34 tubes three inches in diameter and 10 ft. long.  The year of the engine is also unknown, although it has been discussed with fellow steam engine owners and it could be anywhere from 1910 to 1923, or even newer.  It has a double riveted butt-strap boiler.  This is a very big engine when it comes to portables, the boiler is very long, as if it was designed to service other steam items besides operating the engine. Bring your ultra sound and feel free to take readings.  As-is where is.  $14,500.00

The sawmill was manufactured by the J. A. Vance Company of Winston-Salem, NC.  It has a 52 inch diameter blade.  The blade is a 36 B series blade with removable teeth.  The blade was purchased new from B.H. Payne in GA in 2011.  The track length is 60 feet and the carriage length is 16 feet.  The carriage has three headstocks. Also some extra parts come with it like a spare arbor, and some roller beds.    As-is where is.  $4,500.00

A 371 Detroit with belt pulleys is available too.

Hey Alabama,
Shoot me an email so I can send some newer pictures and videos. You can look through my gallery for some older pix but since then I built a shed over the mill and at the back of the engine.
I live on the central east coast of Florida... In Vero Beach.
