Title: lincoln welder generator

My welder/ generator started making a loud buzzing humming sound when i use the power. such as using grinders, drills etc. can anyone diagnose my trouble.

Does it make that noise when you are welding?

seems to weld fine,  just makes the loud sounds when i power up my grinder or drill etc.

Take an armature stone to the exciter armature and clean it off. While your at it clean off the main armature as well. I'd bet that noise is coming from your brushes. Your local welding supply should have the stone if not I can recommend a few websites.

Your welcome and thanks for the greetings. I'm a welder by trade and have made my living running Lincoln Welders like what your talking about for the last 5 years they are great machines.
