Post by: Hilltop366 on September 14, 2015, 08:35:59 PM
Looks like I a going to Myrtle Beach in a couple of weeks, friends are going and have an extra room so myself my wife and 10 year old daughter are going to join them for a week.

Looking for a heads up on things to do or see and things to avoid while there.

One thing my daughter wanted to see was a British car show that is on Oct 3, what a great kid! ;D

Golfing capital of the world, bring your clubs. Or play miniature golf with the family. You'll have fun whatever you do.

Thank for the info guys!

Not much of a golfer but I'm sure I will do some mini golf.

The USS YORKTOWN at Patriots Point Naval and Maritime Museum looks interesting, has anyone been there?

Raider Bill if we decide to have a guys night out I'll get a hold of you for more info. ;)

Warped,

What a waste of a good fried oyster! Also the eternal question " How drunk did the first guy have to be to eat a raw oyster?"

H366,

     Enjoy the trip.

Well there is't much chance of me eating an oyster, the last time I ate clams was in 1985 lets just say it didn't go well for me.

I haven't been able to look at clams, muscles or oysters since.

Nothing against motorcycles, but if your visit coincides with one of the "Bike Weeks" it will be interesting to say the least.

That's bait!
Although, I do enjoy a good fried oyster sandwich, just hard to get around here. Same goes for smoked tuna and salmon salad...

Unfortunately Majicman is right, we seem to be just in time for the fall bike week. Oddly enough ::) there is no mention of any bike week on the official Myrtle Beach web site but there are a couple of bike week web sites.

According to the bike week web site most of the activity and gathering places are at the southern part of the beach and the place we are staying is near the northern end, also we are travelling with a 10 year old so well not be out late. Hopefully we will not be impacted much by it.

Chesapeake House up on North Myrtle before Tanger outlet mall is real good.  If you get to Calabash which is 30 min North at the NC SC boarder there a good restaurants such as Ella's, Crab Shack and others.  This is a place you could go out on a half day or full day fishing trip too.
As stated all sorts of mini golf places around everywhere. With beach breeze take or purchase kit!

I'm not sure what "With beach breeze take or purchase kit!" means.

My wife's eyes lit up when I mentioned the outlet mall.

Thanks

"Chesapeake House up on North Myrtle before Tanger outlet mall"

Just looked on the map, these places are only about 3 miles south from where we are staying, we are staying @ Shore Crest Vacation Villas.

I know seafood is the thing to get but my wife would like to go to a Italian restaurant for her birthday while we are there, any suggestions?
