Anyone have a place they have been having good luck with for deere parts ? After my last go around with Nortrax getting 5 wrong seals when i needed just 1 seal / O-ring and the girl at the parts desk telling me today that the replacement hose im ordering for my skidder "doesnt exist" on her computer and she doesnt know what to tell me, im all done. If Southworth was much better i would be there but they all suck.
If someone had the napa # for the upper and lower radiator hose's and the short water hose on the right hand side of the block on a 276T / 440D Im willing to have my wife send brownies or cookies. :D

Jdparts.deere.com .I work in a john Deere factory and it comes in handy for looking up part numbers to fix test equipment on the foor. The deere engineers use it also to look stuff up and build boms. The dealers use a slightly different set up and it is either the guys looking at it or their system that is useless.
You can actually look up dealer stock and order the parts to be picked up at the dealer or shipped to you. Once you enter your dealer information you can see price and availability.

I have been having fits over a "Torsional Damper" for my 710 backhoe. Deere is having trouble. They say what I have does not exist. They keep trying to sell me a clutch. It is where a clutch should go, bot it bolts solid. Only person that knows what I have worked for John Deere 30 years ago and has worked on the same model machine. He sells Deere parts and is having trouble trying to get the blasted thing. I guess it is something that they changed after a short run. I'll send you a PM with his number BargeMonkey. Maybe he can help.

Once you have a JD part number, you will find that if the same part is used on the ag side of the house, it will be priced a little lower. Some parts are obviously only applicable to a construction or forestry machine, but many are used in multiple applications, especially filters and engine parts. Warehouse for both is generally in Grimsby, ON.
In your case, call Hudson River Tractor in Fultonville---853-3405, and give it a try. I worked 15 years for the Schaghticoke store. Falls Farm & Garden is another source, but they have always seemed to be about 10% higher than we were. It is quick for the parts person to tell if the part is available to them, or is specific to your C/F machine. Nortrax is probably then the only source locally for you, as they seem to have the Northeast and upper Midwest locked up.
I appreciate the #'s from everyone, i think its more the head parts guy recently leaving has left them in a state of confusion. We have had great service out of 90% of our deere stuff, but im growing a bad taste for nortrax. 5 star is just a little to far away, and all the other deere places are mostly small ag around here so your stuck with the 500lb gorilla in the room.
No love for Nortrax anywhere it seems... :D They bought the territory for this area and closed the local branch. So I don't own any yellow deeres. Nothing against the products but other colors are nearby.

In addition to parts, I had a bad or more accurately, not great experience with Nortrax on buying heavy equipment.
Deere has essentially locked up their own distribution in New England and Northern NY. While it may give Deere better control over pricing and garner them a few more margin points, not sure that it is good for customer service. Its kind of weird because with Ag they still go through independent dealers, but on the construction/forestry side, they are locked up solid, vertically through Nortrax.
Actually, Deere is trying to do the same thing with their Ag side. they are forcing the single dealers out and encouraging more multiple store dealerships. Bargemonkey, there are two different Industrial Deere dealerships in Southern New England. In Massachusetts, there is Schmidt and in Connecticut, there is W.I. Clark. I bought a loader once from W.I Clark, but have never dealt with either one of them for parts.
Yep same for ag but still more broken up than the industrial side. 3 multi store outfits here within 30 minutes drive in green, 2-3 hrs one way for yellow.
I don't think I've ever heard anything positive about Nortrax >:(

Falls Farm and Garden notoriously has the highest prices around. They had a buy one get one saw chain sale in the fall, I went there. It costed the price of two to buy one chain, and they "threw" another one in for free. :D
PBH in new hampshire is a deere dealer and they are alot cheaper, i will get the info for you. nortax wanted 300 dollars for an oil press. gauge, pbh 70 arrived the next day. i will pm you with the info prob next week
PBH is a used equipment dealer dealing in John Deeres, not an actual JD dealer.
MaineLogger hooked me up with a guy up his way, have new band coming for 1/3 the cost of Deere. Still havent ordered hoses, not enough hours in the day. :D

Thanks for the #. We have quite a bit of Deere equipment and trying to avoid Nortrax like the plague.
Was out trying to find some bolts today. 5/8" x 3.5 grade 8 carriage bolts. They fasten the outer rim on a rear tractor tire to the inner rim. No luck so stopped in the John Deere Ag dealer. They have about 4 locations and are sewing up the John Deere Ag/Lawn Equipment market in this area. Kid at the parts counter would not even check to see if they had any without a JD part number.

He said that because they don't have the bolts in bins by size. They are in the bins by part # and bin #.
Stop and help with inventory sometime, or volunteer to put parts away when they come in.. you will have the appreciation for what the lad at the counter was saying. I beenthere ;D
There are a few parts guys who know those numbers, but just a few I'm sure.
Also, you can look up the part no's in jdparts.com and easily get that part no. The kid could have too if you had the model #, and possibly even the s/n of the tractor to give to him. There are a gazillion different parts over the many years of Deere and the many different models produced in the last 90 years.
Yup you pretty much need a sn for anything you buy from Deere I know the one on my 540 by heart lol
I guess what I was trying to say that some type of effort, any type, might have went a little way. They were not busy. No one else at the counter except another employee.
When I am doing my part-time job representing a national lawn and garden care products company in a Lowe's if someone comes in and has an application the company I work for does not have a product for we assist them in selecting a competitors product that will meet their needs. It's just trying to help people out. Build good will for the company.
Oh well. No biggie. Will spend my money elsewhere.

What model Deere do you have that you need carriage bolts for the wheel rims?
Not a Deere product. Just a shot in the dark that they might have some bolts of that size. Never hurts to check and keep your money local. Can order from Ebay.
McMaster.com has them in grade 5 (three lines). What size square do you need on the carriage bolt?
Found some on Ebay located in Ohio and will try and order today. Need to get tractor home. Shop where tractor is at has had two tractors that have had sugar put in oil, wires cut from a stock trailer and one other act of vandalism over the last two years. All was the owners equipment. Don't think they would bother someone else's but never know.
Did find some in a lower grade so will take them to him to put in temp.
