Saw a huge machine on a trailer this am on the way to work. Koehring 1466. Unfortunately no photos since it was dark. Google tells me this beast could have weighed 400,000 lbs!

A guy I worked for had a 1266. Yea there a big ol beast.
Forgot to mention the stick and tracks were off. So it was probably only 300k. It rode on one of those multi section trailers with 9 axles or was it 11?

A couple months ago when I was driving down the highway, I saw an empty trailer being towed down the road. It caught my eye because almost the entire length of the trailer had axles under it. It had 21 axles on the trailer, and each axle had 4 tires. :o
I wondered what something like that would haul, probably something like the excavator you saw.
I have seen those trailers used for moving large transformers, like 1000 megawatts. Those things are big and heavy. Very impressive operation.
they use trailers like that to carry the large wind turbine blades to the sites here in NEK Vermont. The rearmost set of 8 wheels is independently steered by remote control, by a person in a vehicle immediately following the truck. Kind of like the old "hook and ladder" firetrucks, only remotely controlled.

Update. Now I've been able to see this machine working at an old mine near my house. It is being used to make a slurry wall I've heard. Digging a trench around 90 ft deep

Didn't know what a slurry wall was, but now have some idea. A youtube video helped along with the last video posted. Apparently the slurry (bentonite and/or cement) is the filling that replaces that dirt being removed by the dipper.

Some of these loads came by my place...at night... this past summer. Simply amazing what they can do. They had quite the caravan of lights and pilot cars.

Very likely 1270. It's a very uniquely modified 1466. To the best of my knowledge, the only one set up this way. It's movements have been somewhat tracked on several different earthmoving forums I visit at different times. Like bigfoot except real. :D
