What's the diff ???
« on: January 13, 2005, 04:24:09 pm »
What is the differance between the kiln in Baileys and Nyle.  The L200 looks like the one in Baileys and the specs are the same.  But baileys is cheaper by $200 and is closer to me.  So is there really and differance other then the sticker on the front?   Does Nyle build them for Baileys?   I just need to dry some wood.  Does any one have either?

I have the Baileys version, been runnin it since 2001, have had no problems. The only diference on mine is that baileys put a "baileys" sticker over the Nyle name tag on the controller. I have gotten all my help and advice from Nyle, as they dont care where you buy it.

Arky, I just bought a WoodMizer DH-4000. It Is exactly the same as the Nyle 200 except the WM version has the upgraded controls. Nyle said they would take care of warrante and any questions I had. I bought from WoodMizer because I could pick up at Indy and save on shipping.

They are the same. Nyle's price increased $200 1/1 and Baileys won't until the new catalog. Nyle is honoring the old price through January. All the above posts are correct. You get the same warranty and service wherever you buy and they are correct about the differences.

Arky, Your Q post reminded be of this thread. You have had nearly two weeks to shop, so what did you decide on and what are you going to put the DH unit into. I was planning to put mine in a truck freezer body, but have had no luck finding a suitable body. :( I will just have build according to Nyle's plans furnished with kiln. :P

I have cleared off a spot and will get some gravel hauled in next week or so for the foundation.   I am going to build a 12x 32 building with 6 inch walls.  Been thinking of filling between the studs with sawdust (I make plenty) for insulation.   I know in the old ice houses around here they were all insulated with sawdust.   I will build some carts to load lumber onto and wheel them into the kiln.  Already have people lined up for the first two loads and do not even have forms up yet. :o

Sawdust will get wet over time so it isn't that good to use. The suggestions on the plans from Nyle are all okay and have stood the test of time. But it still has to be done carefully. We get questions every day about cellulose, white bead board (expanded polystyrene), straw, that foil and bubble stuff, and just about everything else you can imagine. We have either tested or experienced most of the variations and some we don't like from an engineering analysis.

Great post !!   Answered lots of my questions also.   I'm close to buying the Nyle and hadn't realized the WM and Baileys units were also made by Nyle.

Anyone know what WM is asking for their version?  What about the cost of the automatic over temperature vent option?

I have an aluminum truck box 20' x 7' x 7' with a roll-up door on the rear and a walk in door on the side.   It's mounted on a heavy duty farm trailer frame with a pintel hook and wheels to move it.  Only problem is, it is not insulated.   I'm thinking about using 3" foam insulation panels with aluminum foil face inside on the walls and ceiling, and outside under the floor.  I calculate that it should hold about 2400 bd ft without any problem.  How well will this work?
