I switched from AT&T to Verizon about a year ago, waited until the phones/plan were on sale.  Had to as the service in rural areas of No. Cal and Eastern OR was non existent with AT&T.  Found that out the hard way when elk hunting last year. Previous year, service, but AT&T pulled out. Verizon user in camp, had to use his phone to call back to the business (after the morning hunt!) each day.  Have to say, no issues so far, but you never know!

I had the non flip one, picked a rock up against my leg and smashed the screen, one phone down, next one I put in my lunch bucket just for about a hour with a ice pack, second phone down. Next one went through the washing machine, phone 3 down,I forgot what happened to the fourth one,but I am on phone number 5. Had this one going on a year.  8) I think they go off whatever tower they can.

I agree with chuck
they are both good services in the area that they cover.
I have ATT which works at my house and my ADK hunting camp and many other places near my home.
Verizon works better at my other hunting club.
I have had both over the years and both have pluses and minuses.

i use a phone very little except for the internet. but i can not get high speed unlimited internet service at my home without going with a cellphone connection. i went with a company called metro pcs the first of this year. they advertised unlimited high speed internet at an attractive price. i use the wi fi connection most of the time. i found it slowed to a crawl after 5 gb of downloads unless you are looking at the phone screen  their literature explains that it slows down in very small print at the bottom of the page so i dropped this time i am using version for my internet and it is fast enough for me most of the is a bit pricey but i have unlimited phone text and internet.

It started raining on Monday afternoon so I ran to the Verizon store in Lima Ohio. Went in and told the lady what the guy told me from Texas and she said we can't give you a receipt I said you just take a peace of paper and write you received this phone from me on the 30th of October and you send it in and when you get it back I have proof that I dropped it off here. No can't do that you have to take it back to Walmart, I said there is nothing they can do because it is up to Verizon to credit me the 198 bucks . Well to make a long story short I am still up the creek without a paddle. Is it over not at all in my opinion it is the principal of the whole thing. Never worked want money back pretty straight forward I think  ;D.
