New job.First 3 days.
« on: November 25, 2004, 04:15:53 am »
Started my new job on Monday.I am now a field service reb.for a chemical company. We treat boilers, cooling towers.chillers and things like that for different manufacturing plants.
I am also doing some consulting work for vacuum kiln operations on the side.
After 18 years at the same company I feel like I am alive again!Learning something new.Meeting new people, seeing different ways of manufacturing things, going to new places I have never been before...
This is like the best Thanksgiving that I have had in a long time!
After working 7 days a week for the last 3 years I can have weekends off!I think I will watch some football on Sunday 8)
Took a $2 per hour cut in pay but got free health insurance and a much easier work load!!!
Sorry.Had to let this good feeling flow.
HAPPY THANKSGIVING EVERYBODY!
It has been a year already. I think I am going to like my new job!

3Dogg, Couldn't happen to a nicer guy. I'm very Happy for you. Since 1973, I've drifted around the world, doing just what you are, enjoying the diversity.  Enjoy the new found freedom. 8)

:) ;D :D Small world same age same state only the Mullica River and the Pine Barrens separates where we grew up. :D ;D :) I wonder if there's any sunken cedars in the Mullica River bet their is only how to finde'm. Saw your post on the sharpeners and you stated you built one but needed precise machine work to make it suitable. If you're interested I could help you out I still have most of my machine shop equipment and am interested in building one and have been designing a two tooth setter similar to the one you made. Send me an email if interested.

Well worth the $2 cut for free health insurance. You surely can not buy your own insurance for $320 a month.

I'm no pilot, but I road in twin otters, single otters and beavers all over the north coast of BC. Also in jet ranger, long ranger, and  Hughes 500 heli's. Took one trip in a single otter in heavy head winds, trip was 3 hours against the wind and 20 minutes with wind to out backs. Felt like someone was toss'n a toy airplain up and down as we climbed and droped like a yoyo. That was scary, risky  stuff.

The most boring rides where when we could only see clouds and fog. If ya could see the ground or ocean you could see alot of old military history around the islands and Queen Charlottes. Old run ways, gun terrets, radar sites and so on from WW2. Then there was the odd view of wildlife, like killer whales, mountain goats, grizzlies and harbour seals. Its hard to take photos through bubble windows though. :)

:D ;D :) SwampDonkey  :) ;D :D Strangest thing I ever saw. We were following a line of thunderstorms in the late spring and there was a rainbow and it went completely around. I know what you mean by great sights we tried to fly 1,000 above grounnd level when weather permitted and you do see some neat sights. Sorry about getting off the topic with the war stories Old3dogg. When you move on in a job sometimes the good memories of old follow.

No problem with getting off topic.
I love reading some of these stories about what you folks have done in life. There are a lot of really interesting people here.
I cant stop talking about my old job with my new co workers but after 18 years I have a lot of stories to tell.

I own a go kart racing team, and my son races. His number is 9. I usually go to Marion Center Speedway, when we aren`t racing, but I know quite a few that race at the' Bird, and Knoxdale. Brian Smith #22s, works at NC also. Eddie Connor's son , used to race against my son in karts.

During the daytime, I cut timber, and sell sawlogs, and firewood. Sometimes, I can also be seen hauling some Dutchmen around also.
