I now have a down and dirty way to add additional fields to our profiles. In the past I have said, just stick whatever you want  in your signature file, but that hurts search results. Say if somebody searches for information on "LT15" as an example, and Whitepe has listed in his signature that he has an LT15, the search will return his posts, even though they probably are not relevant to what the person might be looking for.

What I am looking for here are ideas on what else we should or could include in profiles. Remembering we are not all sawyers or loggers or foresters or landowners. Thats not to say we cant have fields that apply to only one, such as sawmill type.

Jeff,

You are absolutely right ----that Whitepe is not relevant :D :D  or is that irreverant? :o :D ;)   Well he would have said the same about me if he had thought of it first ;)

On the member info.,  this isn't what you are asking,  but it would sure be nice to know a little about ALL the members.  I even miss having the members locations during this transition.

Why not add some sort of reward for having abiography------maybe an ornament or bird or something in their trees.  Maybe make it a requirement for 'full membership'
milking and logging and sawing and milking

We could make it a requirement, but certainly we still must respect ones right to privacy so I don't know if that is something we should do. Some folks simply do not want to put their info "out there" problem is, it already is somewhere. :)

I am actually planning a little contest for once we get this done. You will have to have filled out the new profile to be entered in the drawing. :)  We did this a couple Christmas's ago and that is my plan for this year.

Jeff,  for this uneducated typist,  what you have just put into print, might as well be a language from some where in outer space.  I failed to understand what you are doing, let alone how you are doing it. And I read it twice slowly.

That is not really fair, now I have to add that to my favorites list.  And I am already having trouble keeping up with the reading here. How do you ever keep up with it all.

I didn't understand a bit of it either, Bruce_A.
I just figured I'd go with the flow and whatever Jeff decided was probably the best for whatever reason.
