hi everyone just wondering what everyone is using for blades on their mills.tried some free simonds but had major problems with breakage.heard alot about those monkey blades.any suggestions would be great.

I've had good luck with "Hakansson" blades

Steel can vary from batch to batch, so a one time trial can be misleading. Find a supplier that will work with you. Blades break at weld, they should be replaced for free. A poorly aligned mill can be a source of early blade breakage. When we compare, we try different sources back to back. We use WM on our woodmizer mills and Simonds redstreak on our Baker.

Hey a maritime supplier! Any idea on their prices? Princess Auto are now selling blades but they are about 50$ ea.

I us a 1 1/2 inch blade a little over 18 feet long, and use the Monksforsager blades. I tried the Timberwolf product, but didn't care for it. I ordered a couple sample WM blades, but they sent them too short. By the way, anyone need two WM blades 211 inches long?

I would appreciatte it guys if you gave priority to trying what our sponsors have to offer before advertising for other non supporting blade guys. Menomminee saw and Kenne saw both have different brands and people that you can talk to for tech information as well as Wood-mizer, TimberKing and Baker. All these folks help support your forum and would be a wealth of information I am sure, just by calling a few. Tell them your from the forestry forum!

I ordered my Monks from Menomee, and let them know that this forum is where I heard of them AND where I got all of the praise for the blades. I must agree that these blades are the best so far. Cheaper too!

Jeff.B Thank's on the tip for MENOMINEE SAW,ordered some info on blades, here in the mairtimes their is not much in tha way of products localy.So we jump at the chance when you see or hear of one.PS lot's of info on this fourm!!!

Iv'e have been using those monkey blades lately . They seem to do an oustanding job.I bought them from Kenne-Saw & Supply.I told em Fla.Deheader had sent me.

I've used red-streak resaw blades from Menominee saw for a long time (just like in there ad, my grandad bought saws from them too). Decided to try some monkey blades when FDH first went to bragging on them. Bought 5 each of red-streak and monkey blades for our Woodmizer. Been trying to use them equally to get a good comparison. They've been sharpened 5 times and reset twice so far. I can't decide which is the best for me yet, but I know I like both of them better than anything I've used in the past.

I have been using the Munks blades and I think they do a real good job. I got them from Keen-saw. They treated me very good.

I also got a couple blades from Woodmizer. I first called them last December & they sent 2 blades. When I went to use them I realized they were 1 1/4" and not 1 1/2". Anyway I called them a couple weeks ago and told them. They said no problem & sent me 2 more blades at 1 1/2" x .045. I thought that was great service considering the blades were on them.
I used 1 last Saturday on a spruce log and I was happy with how it cut. It handled the knots well.
At this point I have 2 blades 1 1/4" x .045 and 229" long I can't use. I'm going to offer them to my heighbor who has a WM. Maybe he can get them cut down.

I ordered 10 blades 1 3/8x0.035 from Munkfors today. No free blades in Sweden but talked them in to give 10% discount. Told them I can buy them cheaper in USA

How much do you pay for monkeys there?

Bout time you checked in.

We get 15'-8", (don't know the metric conversion) length of 1¼" blades for $20.00 including shipping. (Don't know the conversion for money, either)

There is no free trade for individual Canadians, only for large companies, purchasing in the USA. With the brokerage fees, duties, taxes and hassle from the courriers, I now have my US purchases shipped to my daughter's home in Maine and pick them up when I am visiting.

sweede what you pay for those monkys?
the cheapest in the uk so far is 500.532sek $68.90

with WM double hard at 247.259sek $34.04 from woodys

anyway will see mike and james at the APF show on friday see what show bargins they got and maybe have a play with a lt70
