« on: May 06, 2015, 06:39:21 pm »
I am looking for someone to grade or inspect lumber. I will be building a house in the Truxton NY area. I will cut all the rough cut myself. Per NYS code structural lumber needs to be inspected or graded. Please contact me via email: robbedo68@gmail.com or * 607-761-5522 Thank You

I'd suggest you contact NELMA
(Northeast Lumber Manufacturer Assoc.)

They should be able to point you to qualified inspectors, but at a cost.

I contacted them, I know that I will have to pay for it. They would come down from the State of Maine to do the inspection. The cost for approx. 40 timbers would be $1500.00 I thought that was a high price. Hoping to find a local inspector in NY to do the inspection/grading for a fee.

Most lumber graders charge by the bd ft usually in the  0.10 to 0.15 cents a foot depending on amount to be graded I generally charge about 150.00 so as to keep it an affordable option that makes both the builder and civil engineers comfortable. To bad Im not closer as it would make me happy to help.
