any sawyer near St. Louis need work?
« on: December 23, 2014, 12:47:30 pm »
Howdy folks. It appears that it has been ~ 9 years since my last post, so let me say I am glad to be back. I come looking for help.

Quick update here (sawyer request below): I joined Forestry Forum back when I was starting Lumber Logs, St. Louis' urban logging operation. I am glad to say we are still around and hauling logs for tree services, municipalities, cemeteries, etc. who all have urban log disposal problems that we solve for them. I have a blog with more detail at http://www.lumberlogs.blogspot.com/ if you want more on that subject.

We keep a small fraction (2-3%) of the logs we pick up to be sawn into lumber we sell, and recently our sawyer quit. We could use a sawyer willing to saw a few logs per week. If you are interested or know somebody who would be, please respond with location, experience, and equipment used. We are willing to pay by the hour or the bf for milling grade lumber. We generally deliver the logs and pick up the lumber - so close to the city is important -  but we are open to improvements to this system.

Tom, I'm new but live in Farmington.  I just bought a TK 1600.  This is something that I might be interested in once I get lined out and running.

Thanks for the comments and suggestions folks. I remember this forum as being friendly and helpful; glad to see that has not changed.

Kansas City might be a bit far, but Farmington sounds close enough.
