picnic table restoration
« on: July 06, 2004, 01:51:58 pm »
Had to do something with the walnut boards that I put on a carpet floor.  They twisted.  Mr Stump Jumper not happy becuase they werrrrrrrre nice boards.  But he got over it and decided to use them on the picnic table. Because those boards were shot.  You can tell by the boards on the benches what shape it was in.  We have to replace those yet.

We used some 4x6 walnut heartwood sliced down and planed for several picnic tables.  They are gorgeous.  The wood was cheap, about 60 cents a foot as it had pith and many knots, but that gave it lots of character.  If I can get the kids to show me how to get the pictures from inside my digital camera onto this forum, then everyone can see them.
I am in the pink when sawing cedar.

I redid an old picnic table some years ago before I had a mill, bought WRC 2x10's. They cost as much as what I sell walnut for now. :o Methinks the lumberyard saw me coming. :D
