Cut this and a couple others out of a log I went to pick up today. Anybody know what kind it is? Is it edible? I plan to let it dry and varnish it. Just thought it was really neat.

Those look like what we call a conk on the west coast and to an artist they can be worth more than a good piece of wood if the white part is not damaged with fingerprints or other marks.

Got a couple new mushrooms sprouting this weekend. Friend told me of a place nearby that had wooden mushrooms for sale. I asked what they looked like and he explained the gereral size and design. So I figured I'd give it a try. Don't think we can smoke these ones CK.

If you did was to smoke them big ole mushrooms you could get ya a blanket and send up smoke signals just like the indians used to!!!!

Shopteacher has been raising more then Mushrooms. He sent me another of his creations in the mail. It has found a home on the little stump table at the end of our sofa where I can see it all the time. I am proud to add it to my collection of treasures.
