A "MUST" have for every Wood Worker!

OK, Everyone knows by now I am pretty skeptical of claims from just about any industry.

I know we have all been to a show and watched someone do a demo and conclude that it works great at the show but not when I get it home.

Well, I watched with amazement at our last woodworkers show and I bit.

It was the Smart Miter from Jointech. http://www.jointech.com/smart_miter.htm
l

What a product! 8) 8) 8) 8)

After getting the initial set up done (critical to do this part right) I was banging out 8, 10, and even 20 sided picture frames with perfect miters every time!

If there is ever a tool for woodworking I have been overwhelmed by this is the one.

I just bought an INCRA miter 1000SE for my cabinet saw and a Jet mini-lathe,  so I can't afford another tool right now.  I'll certainly read up on it. Might get one in the future maybe. Thanks for sharing. I like to hear when a tool works really good.

here's a calculator that'll work with a compound miter saw to cut some odd angles.  Havn't ever tried it, been to busy with other stuff but I've got some things in my head I wanna make one a these days

Thanks Kirk! Those are some great looking frames! :)  I bookmarked the site so I can take another look at this and their other offerings. I can use all the help I can get when it comes to joinery. :-/

Kirk your are right about them demo's. Most of them look
so good but when you git home  >:(    The tool you have
is one that realy works. I have some woodworking frends
that have it and wow it does work.I have a program on
my computer that will give you all the setups angles you
need and it doesn't cost that much. Here is his web page

I was a high end trim carpenter for years and I leanerd real fast the length of the pieces has to be as accurate as the angle of the miter or it isn't going look good. Good tools do make the differance. If you are making frames be sure the length of the part is exactly the same of the opossing parts before you blame the miter angle.
