HEATED FLOOR
« on: March 03, 2004, 04:32:14 pm »
I'm curious if anyone has any experience with heated floors in a dry kiln.  I'm looking into a Kotter Kiln and they offer a heated floor option as well as waste-wood boiler.  Is this something worthy of the investment?

It tends to reduce condensation on the floor but you can do the same by adding insulation under the concrete. It should not be considered as a way of heating the kiln. There are several reasons for not using it and they more than offset the plus.

Koetter has some peculiar ideas. I tried to get a thread started at WoodWeb but they are a sponser. Gene admitted in private email that their thinking was 'outside the box', so to say, but that's as far as it went. I tried to get a thread started at out forum but we don't get enough hits. Anybody here have any experience with Koetter?
