Yes, indeed :D Or a bigger chainsaw! I love it when folks put a long bar on a little saw and call it huge, no wonder it took 6 hours. When he started out saying it would be a shame to see the huge log go to firewood, I had visions of huge table slabs and such. Then he takes it and has it sawn up into "usable" boards :D A swingblade mill would have really been the way to go.
All in all, though it looks like it was a very fun and rewarding project for all involved. Be nice to see what they make with the wood! Thanks for sharing that, and welcome to the forum, millbilly.

Perfect example of "Don't judge a book by it cover" that was one ugly log before it was opened up.  That guy inside ain't no Tom Cruise either. :D  Welcome to the forum and get ready for a new addiction.

Welcome Mill_Billy

I enjoyed the story too.  Almost in my backyard.  I don't think I have the "Gusto" to attack something like that any more but I sure do like to see others do it. :)

There used to be miles of those trees alongside Hwy 126 in the Santa Clara River Valley. That's the home of sunkist oranges. The two lane road got too dangerous, and they widened it to 4 lanes. I wonder what happened to all those trees?  8)

Thanks, that was a cool site. Be nice to see what the wood is turned into. I would have gone for slab coffee tables.
