where can I find a used bandsaw mill?
« on: December 16, 2001, 07:40:23 pm »
Forgive me if there is an obvious answer to my question. I have only been nosing around here for a couple of hours and don't really know my way around yet. Is there a classified section or a place where I might find a listing of used bandmills? I went and looked at a Timberking in operation this past weekend and it was pretty impressive. It had a 36 hp diesel and the owner told me it cost $28k last year when he purchased it new. I kind of had my heart set on a Wood-mizer. I always think buying good USED is best, trucks, machinery, equipment ect.. A friend of mine bought a 1999 4x4 CAT backhoe for $37k. He said it list for $75k new. It was in mint condition. I just missed a deal on a 89' ford 655 4x4 (3000 hours) backhoe. The guy wanted $12k. Every similar piece that I have seen listed has been $20k. Now I'm wondering if this is a big enough piece of iron to move logs with.

Bibbeyman just sold a 96 super and still has a 94 that I'll bet he could be pressured into selling.  Check out Talladaga Machine Sales, American Lumber and Pallet, the Sawmill Exchange and the manufacturers to find used stuff.

They all have Web

Hey Stikbilt,
Here are more sources:
http://www.tms-sales.com
http://www.woodworkingsite.com/surplus/surpluskm/browsesurplus.asp

Add these to your collection.  I think one requires you to register to see details, but its worth that trouble.
Anyone else want to add to Tom's and my list?
