I have been lurking around here for a while, absorbing all the good information. For my very first post I will share my excitement at ordering a sawmill today. After reading, looking, and thinking about buying one for the last two years, I ordered the new Woodmizer LT35 manual. I had decided on the LT28 with the upgraded engine, but after talking to the salesman, figured the LT35 was a good enough deal to stretch my budget for. I called to place the order today and was informed they were having a February sale and they could knock $1,500 off the price I was quoted.  Needless to say, I am quite a happy customer already. While I haven't actually talked to anyone here yet, I want to say thanks for all of the good info I gathered reading through all the posts. The info on this site helped a lot in deciding what to buy.

Thanks for the welcome. I have 32 acres we are building on, finishing the garage this year and starting a house next year hopefully. I plan to cut some timbers to use here and there in the house. Not really a timber frame house, just a bit of it. As I work through the house I hope to be able to use a lot of my own trees for woodwork as I finish it out over the years. Long term I have contemplated a small timber frame barn as an ambituous future project. Although my horse crazy daughter says that should be first on the list...

Welcome to the forum. Ever been around a mill before? How are you getting the wood out? Don't forget a Logrite cant dog or peavey.

Congratulations!  Get some extra blades.  You will want to use a few trying to saw different parts of your mill off!   These you don't have to bother getting resharpened!   :o :o :o ::) ::) ::) :) :) :)  Just did it again today, myself after 11 happy years.

Welcome ruren. You shouldn't have been a stranger before while you were thinking of which mill to buy. We could have given you a lot of advice to confus....err, help you decide. :D

Once you get your mill you won't want to stop sawing lumber. You may never get your house built but you'll have a big stack of lumber. ;D

I've seen sawmills in action before, but haven't run one myself. I am looking forward to learning how to use it. I have a small tractor and a decent size skidsteer, so moving wood won't be a problem.

I was actually looking at the Logrite cant hooks, and noticed they come in a number of lengths. My first thought was to buy the longest they make for maximum leverage. Is there a downside to the longer handle?

The 60" LogRite is a good all around choice.  The Megahook is superb on big logs when turning on a manual mill, but it is too big and heavy for medium and small logs.  That is where the 60" shines.

Welcome to the forum, not been on myself for awhile but just chimed in cause you sound like me when we toook delivery on the LT28 in apr 2010 and it has paid for itself in less than two yrs part time(other job) we also have had the least maint cost(not cost of sawing) that i never imagined like $150 drive belt guides ect..and sawing ERC for a customer sat. mon. and today with no problems... besides weird logs that drive a newbie crazy..Good luck and keep the gum off the belts. And one tip that Tom gave me...get rid of the tape measure as soon as you can cause it's gonna happen eventually anyway.

There is not alot of LT35 owner's on here, or atleast ones that have talked about them much. i upgraded my lt28 to the 35 last november. Great Mill! And for the price you made a good choice! I liked my 28 but I love the 35!

Congrats Ruren, I think the LT35 is a great value. If I ever upgrade my LT15 it will be to a 35, but it will have to be a Hydraulic.
