Retired guy needs a little help!
« on: February 10, 2004, 07:03:34 pm »
Jeff, I'm having a little trouble with this retirement thing.  I'm having to get out of my rocking chair, fire up the computer to find out the date, then go all the way across the room to the calender, just to find out what page to look at in the TV guide. It is getting a bit tedious. Could you possibly put the day of the week at the top along with the date?  It would really save me a lot of energy. Thanx. ;D

Dang,
I was having that same problem until I realized I could put my cursor over the time at the bottom of my IE screen and get the day and date as a pop-up. ;D

This retirement thingy is tough.  I can't get used to it either. :)

Keep your daily schedule.... ???  in a book not on the computer or you'll be stuck at the computer all day. :D

DanG,
That is a good suggestion.  It’s hard for some of us to remember which day we have to go to church.

Jeff, I think they're right you should put the day at the top. Cept don't change it and it will be like groundhog day in the movie. Maybe make it Monday, nobody seems to like Monday.  That would teach them old geezers to tease us about not going to work.

DanG, I can't give any advice on retirement habits since I have not retired. To retire implies that a person has had a job and since I have not had a job since our uncle layed me off in 1970 ,  I couldn't retire. So  five years ago I sold the pigs and just quit. ;D  As for knowing the day of the week now, it is easy. If the wife gets up and goes to work it is a work day ( for her). If she  doesn't go to work it is either a weekend or a holiday. :) What else do I need to know. ;D

I sure feel sorry for you Dan, I told Patty of your dilemma and said I would travel down and help with the TV remote control, day of the week and making sure that last cup of coffee didn't go to waste. She said sourcasm is an ugly thing. ;)

DanG I figured you would be measuring your days by how much time you have left in each of the miriad of projects you got around the place.  But a man does need to know some things so I suggest you read the forum with your morning coffee, get all the news and info yu will need for that day, then get off your duff and start in on that list

Ain't gotta worry about that.  They ain't no trash pickup out here, so they ain't no trash pickup day. We have to haul it to the dumpster a few miles up the road. It ain't a big concern, though, since we feed, compost, burn or recycle almost everything.
I may start taking stuff to the County dump, though. My Son-in-law took a load of trash there last week. They weigh your truck going in and coming back out. He had a pretty good load, and expected to pay several bucks, but he spotted a big power pole butt in there. He asked if he could have it, and they loaded it up for him. Going out, he weighed more than he did going in, so they just charged him the minimum of $2. :)
