Holy Cow it's Nasty Out!
« on: February 10, 2004, 05:13:11 pm »
We got one of those DanG white-out prairie hurricanes going on right now. 60 mph wind out of da northwest and zero visibility.

Tomorrow we're going to have to go stand all the cows back up. ;)

Woodmills I think the storm has slowed my brain.  I waited several minutes for your picture to post.  I even said, "I thought Tom fixed this problem with the 100 link thing"  and then I got it!

Boy do I feel stupid ;D

Dat's what a white-out looks like in the day time James! - DanG good likeness.

Here is what it looks like at night. I went to da Cenex for some cat food and it is pretty well lit up. It's hard to capture the nastyness of the moment. At least it is warm right now and temp is around freezing. It looks the same way with -40 temp and -90F windchill. Only thing is then I have enough sense not to go outside and take picutres.

Mark,

Please hold it up there.
It is supposed to make it down here tomorrow evening but they now say it will not have much punch left, just cold.

Ronwood,

The storm hit just when people were going home. We live 20 miles out of Bismarck and the last couple of miles were pretty bad. Not too many still traveling after 7:00 or so. There was plenty of warning so people were not caught off guard. I didn't hear of anyone being stuck in their cars overnight or anyone freezing to death but there were a lot in the ditch. The interstate was closed about 100 west of here.

KOA was closed this morning when we drove by Ron but I'm sure they would open up for ya if you want to visit, ;)

We've got whats left of it snowing on us right now.  Not a heavy snowfall but snow just the same >:(.  I've still got snow in the driveway from the last weather system.  The chute on the blower broke and it turned into more of an overhaul than I'd planned but I got the welding finished on it this afternoon just before dark and would have been all done except for the little cable clamp that busted as I was putting the turning cable back on ::).  That was after the chute slipped out of my hands and broke one of the panes of the glass in the shop garage door >:(  Some days  ::);)

I was going to go out back and see how much snow was on the deck. I gave up. Not sure where the deck is. :-/

I can just about walk right up onto the house roof now.

Loggers usually like winter work, but not this year. I feel sorry for the one crew I still working south of here, but they aren't giving up yet. They only got 6 cords out last Monday, not a good day.

Mark,
It really doesn't look like a good time to visit Bismark either.
