I didn't have any problem viewing them in your gallery. Looks like you have some serious mach. there. I've also got lathe and mill, both Inco. Does the job for me. Keep the pics coming. Really like to see how others do things. Leroy

Steve
You did good loading the pics.
Just that you didn't finish the job :)
When bringing up your pic full size (by clicking on it) in your gallery, scroll down a fair ways below the pic until you see the two options to paste it in your post.
Then use the preview button to see if indeed your pic that you wanted is in your post. If not, try it again until you get it.
Real easy, which is easy to say after you do it once. :)

Steve, are you planning to use automotive type tires for your bandwheels.?Your shafts are marginal diameter, keep the wheels close to the bearings to reduce deflection. If I was building anouther band head I would do it with 1/4" wall square tube say two 6' pieces of 2" parallel with a piece of plate for the engine mount welded in the middle.on the adjustable end short pieces of 2 1/2 tube to slide over the 2" for tensioning the band."V" sheves with short shafts and taper lock bushings between bearings mounted on the tubes. The B series belt on the drive end from the engine also supports the band.Strong, simple, and ridgid.Uprights that the head slides up and down on can also be square tube sliding on smaller tube. yes auto tires is what i will be using , they are made of alumn. my shafts are 1 1/2 od they do look small in picture lol. they are also 4140 metal so the are hard.
the bearing blocks will be 3 inches apart i think is the way i drew it up, drawing in the shop .
if it dont work well can start over lol

Steve,

How did you mount the shaft to the hubs, I see one is welded and one is bolted? What keeps the shafts from turning in the hubs?

I hope that you didn't weld the shafts to the hubs, a bad idea!

d. frederick hows everything ,good i hope
on the axle that you see the bolt , i installed 2 sealed bearings in the hub then put a hole in my shaft and threaded it . that way i can service them . on the drive hub , i turned a piece of 1 3/4 down to go inside the hub. from there i drilled a hole in this piece 1 1/2 which is my shaft size . i left an 3/8 inch on the end with a 1/2 in hole . then i welled everthing together . stuck in the lathe and trued every thing up . full length of shaft is 2ft . i have no more than .003 out of round anywere on the hole shaft .

Steve you should be fine with 1 1/2" they do look smaller in the picture.Have you considered those donut spare tires, narrow with good diameter. Frank C.
