Anticipation, it's killing me.
« on: January 27, 2012, 09:09:19 pm »
It's only been a few days since I have agreed to purchase a used EZ Boardwalk Jr. But have not had the time to make the journey to collect it.  It looks like it won't be this weekend, unless something happens and we get time to make the 8-9 hour round trip...  I don't know what to do.

I can't look at my phone without opening the photo's to see Jr., and he cries out, "Daddy, come take me to my new home!".  I try to reassure him that it'll be soon.  But I can't seem to convince myself that what I tell him is true.  It could be true...?

Will I be taking EZ Boardwalk Jr. home soon?  Only time will tell.

But for tonight; All I have is the glow from my phone shining upon my face - showing me what WILL be mine.

I can only dream of the things we will make together.  The smell of Cedar in the air, the "blood" of the great Junipers Heart feeding the earth around us.  The sound of your 13hp motor roaring it's battle cry as you revolve your blade - prepared to rip through timber with your razor sharp teeth.

EZ Boardwalk Jr., I will take you home, Daddy's coming for you soon.  But tonight; we dream.

This anticipation is killing me!

Oh, they are ready for me to go I'm sure. If my wife has to see another picture or video of a sawmill, she'll probably change the locks when I go to pick it up!

That guy needs a LogRite cant hook, bad.  Ozarkian, definitely plan at some point to get a LogRite cant hook.  You won't believe how much better they are than anything else out there.  I used two wooden cant hooks for years.  The LogRites that I have now are 1000% better.

I'll check it out, I have old wooden handle one I picked up at a flea market.  Wouldn't hurt to have another one though.

Yes, I do have it bad.   :D

I caught the bandsaw dust virus from that dang ol' Forestry Forum! >:(. It immediately went straight to my bloodstream. Doctors said there's nothing they can do, it's terminal.

Well I hope your sawmill arrives soon. It just aint rite to sit here and watch you suffer. If it makes you feel any better. I cant use my mill either. It is all muddy here since spring decided to arrive early her in New England.

Now I am off to find part two of that video.

Awsome.  I think you'll be happy with your new mill.  I've got an EZ-Boardwalk 40 and really like it!

Congrats on the mill. Get the kids out there too,but be safe. Do you have good steel toe boots, gloves, safety glasses? Shovel to move sawdust. The kids can play in the sawdust and get it down thier pants and bring it in the house.  ;D

Carpenter:  I had myself convinced I was going to have one built for me, or buy the Woodland Mill's HM126. But was still looking at good used, and then I was offered this deal.  If you are considering the different options new mills have to offer; then consider the Woodland Mills HM126's setup - the adjustable handle and "Gas and Go" easy handle throttle design look like they would be nice.

Good luck on the build, and take lots of photos, many of us will be interested to see your progress.

thecfarm:  Thanks!  The kids will be involved!  I was them to respect machinery, and understand the dangers of being close to something without proper safety gear.  I will have them stand at a distance while the mill is running, but when I complete a log, i'll have them help pick up the smaller slabs and shovel sawdust sometimes.  They grew up in a city environment until we moved here, and I am trying to "countrify" them  ;).  It bother's me, being that I grew up on a farm my entire childhood, that they are afraid of so many things.  I don't want them to fear so much, yet, want to teach them to respect and understand true danger.

I do have most all the necessary safety equipment, I may need to pick up a better pair of steel toes.  But I am working with smaller logs, so I may put that off to begin with.

Any suggestions what to do with ERC sawdust?  I was thinking saving it for flower beds or bagging it and selling or giving it away??
