Bandwheel tyres and tension?

Hi everybody!

On this beast,



The guy who made it, has put corck on the wheels. It's not even crowned. I was wondering if this was any good for the blades i plan to use. Blades gonna be 3 inch wide stelitte tipped. And tension will be in the 4 tons range. Any opinion on the subject?
