Bandsaw Mill parts
« on: January 19, 2012, 10:31:34 pm »
I am going to start building a mill and I thought I'd throw a post out to see if anyone has some parts for sale.

I need everything :D  Pillow block bearings, keyed shafting, bearings for guides, porta-power or some kind of blade tensioner, etc, etc.

Would be interested in some steel anywhere west of Chicago.

Also would be interested in having some small pieces of steel shipped.  2-1/4" box with 1/4" wall, maybe 4 pieces of 1'.

And 1-1/4" box with 14 gauge wall, once again, just a couple feet or so, could be just small cut off scrap.

Thanks

Where are you located?
Woodmizer LT40G25, with homemade hydraulics, Nyle L200, and more heavy iron woodworking equipment than I have room for.

Again where are you located?   I have lots of parts for a home made mill.  Shipping may kill any kind of a deal though.

I'm located in Northern IL.

I have bought a lot of parts from Surplus Center since I posted this.  But I still need some things.  Let me know what you have.  On the top of my list right now is a porta power or some kind of blade tensioner, a centrifugal clutch and one or two 12v motors.  I've got all of the steel exept for the track.  If it's in IL I would still be interested axle, wheels/tires and two 20' pieces of maybe 2x3 or bigger box or I beam or channel to make it into a trailer.

I also could use trailer jacks.

Thanks

I know what lots of people think about HF, but they do have most of the items you are needing.   small trailers, axle parts wheels hubs, porta-power ect.   they have one of those on sale for the HF members for 79 bucks now with some hyd cylinders...

Otherwise place I would look for a lot of it other than SS is Akron Bearing (but I know them locally and dealt with them in past jobs. a lot one of the guys there his name is Mark too built his own mill with parts form the company...
