free help anyone
« on: January 07, 2012, 11:15:31 am »
I've been able too learn many crafts in the past by working for someone for free, in exchange for knowlege.

Is there anyone in southern michigan, or northern indiana that either lives there, or is going there for some mobile work that would like some good free labor?

Preferably someone with a bandmill.
I've got a lot to learn

Slider, I would absolutley love to.

for some reason that doesn't seem like the best financial decision though with todays diesel prices.

thanks for the offer

Well with that being the case I am in central Ga. so you won't have to go as far as sliders and I have 2 LT70s you can play with. This will save you about 70 miles one way. ;D

Find someone on the members map that you think is close enough and send them a personal message. I can't imagine any of the membership not willing to put you to work for a bit. :)  There is so much to read here everyday, most people may have missed your request.

The Chicken Crispin was awesome! I had a blast Magic. Can't wait to do it again. Hopefully Chris will be home soon for a visit. Finally closed on our house! Only took 6 months of migraines, but, all good in the end. Just missing one person to make this house a home. Praying that this whole visa process doesn't take very long. My daughter Mexi is just as impatient as I am for Chris to come home.

Dave, I'm located about 35 miles west of kalamazoo. You are more then welcome to come out and help but I run a Mobile Dimension which is a multiple blade circle mill. I don't saw a ton but spend a lot of time on kilns and millwork and pulling orders and such.
If any of this interest you then let me know. ;D

Dave, When I was in the process of purchasing my mill the Mill Co. will share who is close to you. Call them see if they can help you out, can't hurt to try. Any chance for them to have someone watch a mill working, let alone help is a possible sale.  Tim

Hey TimGA, if your talking about the woodmizer place in Indianapolis, I'm afraid to go there.  I'll probably end up buying something that my wife won't let me bring home.  As long as I have this bug, there ain't nothing but trouble for me there.

I just had the oportunity to spend the day with oakiemac.  I really appreciate all of the time that he took to teach me what he did.  You've got a great operation there.  I liked you mobile dimensional mill, but now I need to learn from a bandmill.

thanks again Steve

Greatly enjoyed the day working with Dave. He is a great guy and I learned a thing or two as well. Dave I will get you a few phone numbers of people I know close by with bandmills.

Dave

Ask and you shall receive. Your timing is right on target. I just met with a fellow sawmill owner in Fort Wayne Indiana on Saturday that has a bandmill and is looking for help very soon. He is an older gentlemen in his 60's that enjoys cutting lumber, but can no longer do it on his own. Knowing him, he would insist on paying you something for you labor, even while you were learning. He will soon be cutting quite a bit of wood for me under contract to help me build my inventory. He would probably keep you on as well if that was something you were interested in.

Send me a PM and I will give you his contact info
