Imagine living like this though? Like the hard work part I can understand but at the end of the day there's no washing machine, no dryer, hot water didn't just come from a faucet.
This was an everyday thing for these guys, prob no vacation pay or any employee rights or any of the bonuses that we see now a days.

;)  I just happened to finish reading all about this kind of situation.  I was reading the family history of my moms dads side of the family.  Was reading it from the local history book that was done in the 80's. My grandmother was the one that wrote that put it on paper from what i understand.   It's quite the read.  ;)

Coon,
That is really cool.  To have that type of family history written down for the next generations is priceless.

Yup, Coon that's good first hand history by your grandmother.  :) My grandfather talked of working and guiding in the woods a lot. That was his livelihood. He has folks who came by over the years to write articles in magazines on fishing and hunting.

Here is an acknowledgment in a book with a paragraph about grandfather hunting for bush meat for a lumber camp and taking down 2 or 3 deer with one shot. He also advertised in Field and Stream and probably some articles in there. He always went by the tables for best fishing times in a day, I remember him many times consulting his latest Field and Stream magazine for this.

Here is the read if any of you are interested.  There is even a pic of uncle Johnny's mill.

http://www.ourroots.ca/e/page.aspx?id=578502

It starts on page 219 and goes to pages 222 (Sauer Ferdinand)  When it talks about Robert in the story that is my grandfather.  In the second picture with the two guys in front of the house.... the one right by the door is my grandfather.  ;D  He is the only one left from the family and is in his eighties now. :)
