The Forestry Forum supports WAP and WAP2 Protocol.  I do not know what tapatalk is, but perhaps try the wireless address

Thank you for your quick response.  Tapatalk is an app that allows mobile users on devices such as phones and tablets to view the forum pictures included.  It is free for the forum and it shows when I searched that it should work with this forum.  I use it at the arboristsite all the time. I followed theink you provided but it is a text only version and does not support pictures.  Thanks again. Mark.

I've got a quirk on my phone as well. I have to zoom before I can scroll. Just noticed it this morning. I'm not using Tapatalk, just the browser on my Android.

Everything works well with my iPhone but I don't use any third party apps for browsing.

There is no fooling around zooming when using Tapatalk. It works perfect with perfect font sizes and all the pictures are available.  You just scroll and read

Yes, I can use my browser with my tablet and Droid, but it involves zooming and is much more unmanageable.  I use Tapatalk on the Arboristsite and also on Blade forums.

When doing a search using Tapatalk it shows that this forum should support it, but I get the error message to contact the site administrator when it loads.  This is free to the forum (so there would be no cost) and Tapatalk selsl the app to the end user for around two dollars.   I enjoy reading this site, but do most of my reading on a tablet or my Droid, so I don't often read this site.

I was thinking this site used to be powered by VBulletin, but it appears it no longer is.

The Forum has been powered by SMF for a long time, at least since '06 when I joined.

I normally don't have to zoom to scroll, I'm guessing it's just a minor glitch from the changeover. I'm not worried, it will all get ironed out in time. The important part is that I can zoom out to scroll. Better than not having anything to zoom at all. :D

Nope, never.  It evolved from the beginnings of YaBB,a cgi based program into YaBB SE that was PHP, then the key develpers there broke off to start SMF, and I followed.

I just had the recollection of this. I did enable it at one time. Quite some time ago. I imagine upgrading the forum software probably busted it.  I'll try to get it re-enabled for you.

Okay, here is the deal. Once I got back in there and looked everything over, I remembered everything about it, and I remembered that once I had registered and saw what you needed to do, I flat out refused to do it.

First, this is a purely  Chinese application, based in Hong Kong and Shanghai. In order to take part, you must upload their modification plugin  and install it on this website that potentially gives the ap (and them) total access to your forum's database.  Shortly after signing up for the site, even though I chose not to participate after researching, the bot registration attempts on our website with Chinese I.P. address's went up considerably. Be it coincidence, or not, I was not willing then, or am I willing now, to be part of it.

Sorry. but I just can't install anything on the server that knowingly might give a third party access to the database.

Ok thank you so much for your time and the quick response and looking into the matter for me.  I know that Tractorbynet has their own app that works very well also.  I am not sure what they are using, but it is their own app and not a third party app.  I understand your concerns and reservations and really appreciate the fact that you followed through with it.  The links that you posted to access the site mobile work well for a text only version of the site.  It is easy to read and the text size is very acceptable, there is just no access to pictures which is a bummer.

Thanks again,
Mark

Jeff,

Thanks so much again.  I will be patient.  I know that many users access forums from their mobile device.  I am hardly ever on my computer these days between my tablet and cell phone.  I love to lay in bed and read at night.  It is nice you have an interest in your users's needs and perhaps even if it takes awhile, my request will have planted a seed that will come to fruition in the future.

Have a great weekend,
Mark

Wow, wow and wow is all I can say.  It works perfect on my tablet.  The amount of work you needed to put in to pull this together is unbelievable.  Thank you and thank you again.  It works absolutely perfect.  I cant thank you enough.  I hope the mobile version gets used with the amount of work it took you to make it happen.

Thanks,

My plan is to add some of the calculators from the toolbox to it when I get time, but I have to re-write the calcs first. It will probably be just the simple ones like log weight estimator, Board foot Calc for tree and log, and perhaps the Boardfoot scale comparison calc.

I played around a few months ago with IE on my Mobile 5 device and could view the site here like on my laptop with pictures. I disabled it since there was no advantage for me to sit and use a tiny mobile screen and type with a virtual keyboard. When I'm away from home, I don't reach for an internet device or a connection to the internet. ;D Just me. ;)
