I know of an instance where a snake entered an open sewer line and navigated the commode trap. 
A cousin of mine had a similar incident with a rat. Heard splashing in the toilet while he was in the shower, so he opened the lid and a rat hopped out
Ran around the house buck-naked trying to beat it with the plunger. Fortunately I was not there to witness the occurence
