1958 my job was to run measuring stick and gas up the saw for my dad. We were cutting Jack Pine, right by the Ole C.C. camp 707, in the Chippewa National Forest.
I all so had to keep count, we would cut 400 sticks, straight count, no doubles or triples, dad figured it to be about 20 cords. I got 1 cent a stick, i was in the money
My uncle came behind and limbed it with a Axe, and hand piled it, we were skidding with a horse.
My dad was running a 7-19 Homelite, very fast for the day and loud.
When i started running saw, dad had a C-5, C-7 and a C-9, i have a older brother and a younger one, we would fight over who got the C-9, needless to say i always won.
It had a 16 inch bar on it, it cut pretty good, i think it weighted about 27 lbs., if it would have had a set of wheels i could have road it home.
The first saw i ran was my Grandfathers 33 MuCulloch gear drive, no there something to write home about or to your mother in law , what a man killer.
