Wall Mart has some deal called "straight talk " which is prepay thing .I think it's got both a 30 per month fixed amount and I think a 45 per month unlimited .The coverage in the western states is not real good though at this time or at least not as good as Verizon  according to the map .

A friend of wife has it and is pleased .In reading about it it appears to be part of Trac Fone which annoyed me to no end so I'll not use it myself but it might be a cheaper alternative for some .

I bought an I phone today as my other phones have been dropped one too many times :D
I have unlimited everything on my phone, e-mail, all the chat that I will ever need, video and pic transfers, dl movies, transfer movies between the computer and phone no matter where I am.
All this for $60.00 a month. The phone retails for over $600.00 and my cost after everything was $29.00 8)

I too bought a new phone yesterday....actually two of them. iPhone 4s through Verizon, each phone was $199 plus the Verizon bill will be $149 per month, two lines, minimum minutes (700 I think), text, and smart phone fees.    Highway robbery if you ask me, but I love the cool factor with the iPhone 4s !  8)

Oh I'm just not ready for it,too old too grumpy perhaps .

If anybody told me 30 years ago people would have  Dick Tracey wrist TV's buy bottled water like  beer or soda pop let alone have a computor in their homes like it were another TV I'd have called them wacko .

Good grief it's upon me and I have all of the above except monthly payments that exceed the payments I had on automobiles years ago .Geeze I've had houses with less payments .I guess if you want to be cool it isn't free . ;)

Hey Patty, do you have video conferencing on your phone? It's pretty cool cause you can see what people really look like when they first wake up :D

Video conferencing on the iPhone, iPad 3, and Mac is called FaceTime and is installed by default on the phones. You can also install a third party solution like Skype.

Patty, there's also an App that you can install on other phones so you can track them via GPS 8)
Think I might add it to Darla's phone 8) But then again I don't think it would track her much further then the t.v :D :D

Cell phone = electronic collar in my world. Do not have or want one. Finally got wife one of the Jittebug phones AARP pushes. It only does one thing, make phone calls, no camera etc. Cost is $15 a month, but gives her peace of mind. She does make me take it when I go work in the woods alone, not sure what good a phone on the tractor will do it a tree bites me, but I try to keep the peace.
Old doesn't bother me, its the ugly that's a real bummer.

It's a woman thing I think . With my luck I'd either smash it or loose it .

I suppose you could find it if you had another phone and called and listened for it to ring .Then again what good would that do if you lost the second phone .It's never ending .

You know on that subject I wonder how many cell phones made a trip though a brush chipper ?Can you hear me now ? :D

I have a box full of cell phones, must be about 30 of em that I've gone through.
I've dropped them off of scaffolding 30ft up, had em fall out of my pocket and land in buckets of paint, killed them in the rain, run em over with the truck, left em on the roof of the truck and drove away :D
And here's one that I betcha has never happened to anyone. On one site the owners dog grabbed mine off the work bench and had a good lunch :D :D
The shortest a new cell has lasted me from turning it on to being dead is less then 30 seconds, it fell in to a 5 gallon bucket of paint :)
I have 2 cells at all times in case one decides to break down.
Cell phones are my life line, I run my business through them and I can't live with out them :)

The Tracphone is $99 a year with 400 minutes. I use it on occasion, but don't give the number out 'cause I most never have it with me. Went a year and half between charges, as only turned it on to see if it needed charging before taking it to the woods.
Cheap to own.
