sandhills.Funny you should say that,because our local law enforcement officer was our escort home,we where going to drag it home on a chain and he said I,ll go in front of you guys to be safe.just about the time he said that I had the wires off the starter switch and said contact. and it fired up. he said drive the dang thing home :D we didnt tell him it had no brakes :o only had E-brake 8) Tim

Had to laugh when I saw this thread come up,but had to wait until I got a picture of the truck at work 8)

As you can see by the photos,this truck is still working,good buddy I work with bought it at an auction about 3 months ago,they couldnt get it started and it went for $800 I turned around to see who got it and my buddy had a big grin on his face, he said you can get it started and we can drive it home,well he was right and we did ;D Old iron will always have a place in my heart. Nice score there boys Mint condition :o :o :o :) ;) ;D ;D ;D 8) 8) 8) Im looking at 70s & 80s IH Transtar Coe's over there at the moment onto a Real clean one atm 8v92tta at 550hp that was rebuilt not that long ago with a 13 speed RR and hendrickson susp for $5k should do well as My Multi State Log Assault Rig  ;) ;D ;D 8) with 48' trailer and center mount prentice or hood loader  ;) ;D ;D 8)  I think ill find plenty within100mi of Mobile though but im also after as many 24" plus dia A grade logs as I can get my hands on n wont mind driving to get em ;) :)

The chrome strips where found behind the seat when we got it home 8) Its all there and fires up as good as any other truck. when we got it home we had to crawl underneath it and manually operate the pto and dump cylinder (rusted pto cable) so we rigged a rope to it and every time we go to dump the firewood you grab the rope and pull :D its a great seller of firewood we stuck it under the processor and filled it up and set it out in front of the road. sold 5 cords that week 8) Tim

I learned to drive in a '49 KB-5 binder picking up hay. I would side down out of the seat to push in the clutch and then climb back up in the seat to see to steer. Thank goodness for throttles.
Things turn out best for people who make the best of how things turn out.
