Meadows Miller and the "Southern Chapter"
« on: September 08, 2011, 08:07:18 am »
OK Guys, Meadows Miller (Chris) will be at my Cabin & Tree Farm on Saturday September 24th, demonstrating the Lucas Sawmill.  I'm sure that some will start gathering on Friday the 23rd and we will have a "Wiener Roast".  I have extra beds at the Cabin as well as here in Brookhaven, so please don't be bashful to ask.

The map in my Profile shows the exact location of the Cabin, and my address here at home is:
208 W. Meadowbrook Dr.
Brookhaven, Ms.

Everyone is invited, but I will need a headcount so LadyMM will know how many "Chickins" to kill.

Your Ladies, Spouses, & Children are invited and encouraged to attend.

It must be noted that the "Southern Chapter" has no Administrative duties, privileges, or authority.  Our only function is to sit around, eat, and talk about the members that are not there.  Oh, and by the way, did I mention that we like to eat.

I will be at the Cabin for the rest of the week, so while I am there, I will get some mileage figures so I can post some exact driving instructions.  GPS will find our Brookhaven address, but it will not find the Cabin.

Right now, we are planning for friday afternoon. Street atlas shows 145 miles, 3 hrs driving time. What can we bring ? Assume we can get supplies in down town Red Lick ?  ::)  Poking around with some gps stuff, I show your cabin at N31*50.401  W90*58.162. Plug that into your gps and it will take you there.

PS  I will have camcorder.

I'm planning on coming as well.  Will definitely need good directions- last visit I followed you and couldn't keep all the twists and turns straight in my head.

I do have a couple big projects in the works and hope they don't get in the way, one with a hard deadline at the end of the month.  If I can make progress on that next two weeks, I'll have time to come up but will probably just be for Saturday- long drive.

We will finalize our itinerary soon and decide exactly which events will be held where.  We will want everyone to be able to spend as much time as possible together.  We have 9 beds available here at home and 4 at the Cabin.

So far I have some folks that will spend Friday night:  Meadows Miller (Chris), Banjo picker (Tim), Paul Case, Bill Gaiche, (hopefully) planman, Leroy.

Others attending are Radar67, Ljmathias, mandolin, pineywoods (& Nelda), Dodgy Loner, wwsjr (Willie Steele), jonnywood & wife, and 2 guest, Don K.

For sure, all of Saturday's sawing activity and the "Chickin Crispin" will be at the Cabin.

We still have plenty of room, so just let me know.  Guys, bring the Ladies.  They like Chickin too.   food6

Chris and Tim (Banjo) just left my place, came down about noon. Went to Smithville, ate BBQ, did a lot of talking and solving problems. Edged a few ERC boards and talked some more. Good day with FF members. Lynn, may not stay on Fri night, I will let you know next week. May have some business in Jackson on Friday.

It is now looking like Friday's activities will need to be here in Brookhaven.  We have sleeping accommodations here for 9 individuals or couples.  Also there is plenty of room for everyone to visit.  That way, some of the locals can attend both days without the drive to the Cabin.

We can have our sausage & biscuits and coffee, etc. here Saturday morning and be at the Cabin by about 8:30.

Saturday's activities will include Meadows Miller, Chris demonstrating the Lucas sawmill, a tour of The Davis Vineyard, fellowship, and of course "Chickin Crispin".

You will know you are there when you see this.

Some of us will still need some directions to the cabin. And a good, firm time to be at your house to get biscuits. ;)

Breakfast fixings will be ready by 6:30.  I hope to leave by 7:30 and caravan to the Cabin.

So far it looks like we have 18 people plus my family.   :)

Surely we can find some more hungry FF members.   :)

If I can get Don K over here early enough, we will try to make biscuits. He is considering driving over to my place and us riding together.
