« on: May 27, 2011, 12:05:00 pm »
I am in the Medford Oregon area and can not
Find any one that will sell me Cedar logs!

I really don't understand why I have the mony for a
truck load and differnt people tell me they will bring me
a load and they just don't show.

Do other sawers have this problem?

It was a problem here for the last couple of years. With the downturn in the lumber market, WRC was one of the few species you could make decent money on. So some mills (like the one down the road from me) switched to cedar exclusively. Other mills that had never handled it were suddenly cutting it. All of a sudden WRC was very hard to come by, especially for the little guy.

Of course all those mills saturated the market and prices fell. A couple of cedar-only mills have gone under recently. The one down the road lost its planer in a fire and is now shut down. So the supply situation is slowly improving in these parts.

Not that I really want to get into WRC.

At 1000 per thousand at mill why mess with little guy. Lots easier to load it on truck and send it to mill rather than bother with someone only wanting a load Things are tight enough just logging so outside sales are NOT worth time to mess with at present. Also with Log prices to hit Crapper June 1 we are all busy trying to get what of the Change we can get while we can
