I used to hunt just about everything.  I pretty much got tired of eating deer meat, so I quit.  Neighbors will give me enough to keep my venison urges down, without having a freezer full.  My favorite hunting is small game, primarily rabbits and squirrels.  I do enjoy dove hunting though, if I can find a good field and people to keep them flying.  I haven't turkey hunted since I've been in Ohio, but since I got a nice Prohood, I think I'll try again next spring.  Waterfowl hunting never has really interested me too much.  
Just got done rabbit hunting today.  Went to a local wildlife area, and unfortunately so did everyone else.  Did bag one, will go again tomorrow and see if I can get a few more.  Seems like I always see hundreds of the suckers when I'm working, but none when I got a gun.  
A lot of people pheasant hunt around here.  But most birds are released, and to me there isn't much sport in that.  Kinda like shooting a chicken that got loose.

I haven't done much the only thing I have hunted for was squirrel. But I would like to do a lot more but I am not to sure on how to go about getting my license and things like that. Another thing I have no one to go with but I figure if I get my license I could join a club or something along those lines. So maybe you or any one can enlighten me on how to get started. Any info will be greatly appreciated.

I used to spend a lot of time hunting.  There is so much to do now that I haven't bought a deer license in 3 yrs and I don't remember the last small game license I bought.
I work for the Wildlife Div of the MDNR and only have a couple days off during the firearm deer season and when I do have a day there things that need to be taken care of rather than sitting in deer blind.  After collecting several hundred deer heads for TB testing I don't have much of taste for venison anyway.  A couple Ruffed Grouse breasts wouldn't be bad.  Time is the big factor for me when it comes to hunting.  My sugestions would be to subsribe to a couple hunting mags like Field and Stream or Outdoor Life, talk to some experienced hunters and the big thing spend time in the field hunting.  Good luck, be careful and have a good time.

I'm not real familiar with Canadian regulations/rules, ect.  If you can take a hunter safety course, that would be a good first step. The type of hunting to do will depend on your interests.  Large game hunting consists of a lot of scouting before the season starts, and a lot of sitting and waiting while you're hunting.  Small game and upland birds give you a chance to move around a bit more.  Do you have a gun or access to some?  I have no idea if it is legal for a 16yr old to own a gun in Canada.  
Hunting clubs can be really expensive, or really cheap, it just depends.  Check with your wildlife dept about licenses, good public hunting lands, and safety classes.  Read some hunting magazines, just don't buy into all the gimmics.

I have done a lot of duck hunting over the years, and went last Friday. But  my enthusiasm has waned. :(   If you want to get into hunting, I suggest starting with small game. Find someone that is a good hunter (equates to being a safe hunter) and go with them a few times. Another thing you can do is shoot clay pigeons to get used to hitting a moving target.

 8) 8) 8) I also love to hunt!!! ... It used to be rifles - then I used Pistols - Now I use a compound bow - I have sight pins out to 80 yards and can usually hit a milk jug at that distance .... Wild Pigs-Black Bear-Blacktail and Mule Deer-and Wild sheep ..... I would never have believed that hunting with a gun would lose it's excitement!! - Does anyone else use a bow???? :D :D :D

No kidden, man this warm weather (not that I'm complainin) just ain't cuttin it for duck hunting. I haven't even been out since I took my boy out three weeks ago.
Seems like there would always be a big northwest blow the opening weekend of deer hunting and I'd be out in the woods watching them big flocks of divers and northern mallards overhead. So now this year I decide to wait for the late muzzle loader season and its 70d on Nov. 3 and I'm sweatin and swattin bugs.  ::)
Too much corn in the field yet to even try pheasants yet, maybe that'll change by the weekend. My dogs are about ready to revolt if I don't get 'em out soon.
Kevin, how the *#&! does a guy get two weeks off for hunting!        ::) ::) ::)
(I used that one cuz I am GREEN with envy)

Egg,
I`ve been working for the same company for 28 years, I get six weeks regular holidays and another couple of weeks of Stat holidays that I work throughout the year.
All together it adds up to about eight weeks that I can take all together in the Fall because our work load slows down considerably.

Get yourself a few of these little babies ...


Not half as noisy as a can and they hold just as much and maybe more.
There so inexpensive you can place one in every room of the house and there`s no waiting or long line ups.

Well I kinda hung back on this one cause its not really hunting at our house, more harvesting...Michelle just rolls over in the morning looks out at her garden and says "feel like cleaning?"
Don't know why, I used to be a crack shot but now the broad side of the barn is safe. I don't care to wound and she is a Very good shot (Hey didya know, its a Sharps' shooter) so she kills and I clean. Her first day out I had to call the neighbor to help fill his freezer. We have more than enough deer here and only a limited time at home. It is kinda fun to have game from all over the country...these corn country grain fed deer are pretty fine, watched 4 step out of the woods across the road the other day.

Charlie asked me to take a picture of him in his new climbing tree stand.  He's not much for hunting big game and I don't have much hope that he will do any good this year but at least he's out there trying.  How do you like his new Camo outfit.  That is supposed to be real important when you hunt deer and turkey and stuff like that I understand.
