Thanks for the birthday wishes.  If I had thought 25 years ago that I would live this long I would have taken better care of myself.  ::)  I am in good shape and just today I worked a 23 year old into the ground.  I do not think they make um like they used to.  I am glad that folks did not take to bashing grits as I had two farm fresh eggs over easy on a bed of grits just this morning.
There was a time in my life when I just wanted hair on my chest and I hated getting hair cuts.  Now I do not need hair cuts to often and got hair where I do not really need it.  It seems to have migrated south with the passing of time.  I am starting to look alot like Tom more and more everyday.  Glad he is a handsome man. ;D

Happy B-day Arky,  you have definately reached a milestone. :) :)  You are older than many trees and pretty much all animals except some elephants and tortises. :o

This reminds me of a scientific analysis of why our pants fall down as we get older.  After describing alot of physics and mathmatical derivation the conclusion was that if your belt buckle points straight out you probably can hold your pants pretty well.  If your belt buckle points down in the direction of gravity you are likely to suffer from the saggy pants syndrome brought on by age.   Heck..... that is only a minor obstical and nothing to worry about since plumbers crack is actually in fashion with much younger males and is socially acceptable.  We are now in the "in" crowd if you want to put it that way........  Welcome aboard!!!   :) 8) 8)

Well, it's still Thursday in BC, so I didn't miss it. Happy Birthday, Arky.

What "they" don't say about bears is that uphill, downhill, or twice around the mountain, a bear can still outrun a human. So no point in heading downhill yet. You still got a long way to go before you reach the peak.

Well, Arky, when I saw the headline of the thread, I thought that you might have gotten a nice replica Sharps hunting rifle, a new big muzzleloader, or blown a wad on getting one of the .50 caliber semi-auto rifles.

Since it does not appear that you got any of those for this momentous occasion, I guess that the best I can do is wish you a HAPPY BIRTHDAY, and hope that you have a whole lot more.  The alternative to not having birthdays is not something to be desired.

And while I am not a fan of grits, grits under a couple of eggs does sound like a good breakfast.  Preferably with some nice biscuits and gravy on the side, and maybe a country fried steak as well.  Although, given your posts about catfish, some catfish and hush puppies might be good as well.

So go out and enjoy your second 50.  I past it 9 years ago, and have survived.  Getting past the second 50 is the big trick.

Happy Birthday for sure!  Fifty is just getting all the edges rounded off so you can roll through the rest of life a little easier... it's also when the aches and pains stay longer and longer, and the cuts and bruises don't heal nearly as fast.  And remember the old addage: any day you don't wake up dead is off to a good start!

ARky, congrats on hitting the big five O!  I had my 51st the day before yours; yes there are more ache's and pains, but in general things do get better.

Hope that you had a great one.

I trust you had a merry birthday with all those you care to be with  8)

Don't listen to all the old geezers talking about more aches and pains and longer heal times.  The aches and pains are the same ones you have had for some time now and the healing time is just as short as always.  But now that you have crossed the mid century mark you are a more sensitive man and pay attention to some things more than you used to...  :)
