Do you have to re-set-up the power feeder with each change in width?

What kind of setup is that?  Cuts very fast!

I bought a new Amana bit which cuts amazingly fast and is making 1/2" T&G very quickly :)  I'm hoping to have all of my 60 boards done today (giving me about 80 in widths from 4" to 7") that way when I get up to the cabin next weekend we'll nail it up and load up EVERYTHING I have left on the trailer and bring it back here for processing :)

Just basic shaper work.  Normally I run twice as fast when I have somebody to catch boards as they come out.  Kathy noticed what I was planning for the day and ran off on a shopping trip. ??? ???  Smart women...not so smart husband.

Erik, does your mill have the pointer on the up/down crank?
If you want to cut odd ball sizes, just set the pointer to the next index down...glance at it before you drop for the cut...

I have got to make myself a pointer...
Got Wood?

Not sure i understand??  It has a scale and a metal gauge (?) that lines up with the scale to tell you how high off the deck you are....so each cut is done from the deck.

What a difference a weekend can make :)

After bringing home a small load of lumber and making it into T&G and bringing it to the cabin....well a picture is worth a thousand words right?

All the lower section of the cabin is now paneled or drywalled :)

There is just something about seeing all that pine on the walls and knowing the insulation is no longer your main wall covering ;)

One thing that was pure luck was that we matched up perfectly to the previous paneling we'd done despite the different sized boards!  I thought I was going to have to do some 'custom' work there but didn't have to :)

Even had enough left over stock to start on the porch!

Ran out of time before stock so when we return we'll have enough stock to finish the porch and then all the new stuff we make and bring with us :)  I expect to have the loft done in the next month or two now too!

I should add that my step-son has become an excellent partner in doing all of this work.  After two years of working on the cabin we're really starting to become a well oiled team!  I was nailing up boards as soon as we had them set (takes a little bit of fiddling to get them set onto the last tongue) and he was cutting new ones, bringing them in, helping set them and going out and cutting about...in the porch he just took down all the measurements and kept the paneling coming while I nailed it on just barely able to keep up with him!  Heck at times he'd come in and grab a hammer and help me get more nailed up.

I can't say enough how wonderful it is to work side by side with my son and/or step-son (son is away at university of Victoria) and to be able to be there to watch them grow through the process....I don't really think there are any schools out there that can do what two years of working with Dad have done either :)  I know I'm biased but watching both of my sons run the mill (my son came home for the weekend from University and asked if he could mill some lumber! so imagine that), make lumber into T&G paneling and install it as well as do various other things from framing to fixing a well to hunting is just, well, gratifying :)

At least for this old jarhead :)

This is what I use for repetitive cuts on the LT-15.

It's magnetic tape from the hardware store, I stick white tape over the magnetic tape and mark the graduations, you can use both sides to mark different graduations if you want.
For 1 inch the graduations are 1 1/16" to account for the blade thickness.

This thread makes me want to go to camp, I think I will!  ;D

Camping! :)  8) That's one thing we love to do!

I saw a gradient like that on an LT40 I visited in La Grande OR last week.  The guy has so much sawdust his mill is technically UNDER ground hahahaha...ok only the wheels and tires are but WOW!  Piles of sawdust everywhere.  He told me that he's almost ready to install his SEVENTH engine!  It's a 1998 LT40 and he mills (now anyway) about 1000 board feet a day...says he buys a logging truck load of trees, regardless of type and mills them up...doesn't have to stack and sticker or cover because the ranchers just snatch it up as soon as he pulls it off the mill...must be a nice gig!

Anyway, we're about to start the loft walls (24" knee walls) and the ceiling!  I can't wait to be finished with this phase of the build so we can start on the finish work (poly coating, trim etc) and a little back framing on the foundation (more braces)...meanwhile we will mill up some more pine for outbuildings and cut firewood...next year I can smell the wood smoke and see the camping and hunting trips to the cabin!

I am!  Problem is I'd rather be there sawing logs, milling lumber into T&G, building something and working on the land....much rather be doing that then driving off to my day job  :-\

Finally sent off my first 8 blades to resharp :)  They've been waiting a while but with me gone to the cabin so much I just never seemed to get them off.....good thing I have 16 eh?

This weekend I hope to get all the T&G finished for the lofts so we can truck them up there next weekend and install....wish us luck!

Back a few months ago my wife and I had our neighbor (who has a metal workshop with plasma cutter and more) build us a log rack for the cabin.  She likes hearts, so he added some :)

My wife and I spent a few great weekends at the cabin this winter:)  She loves this spot!

On top of our hill :)  Some of those trees might....well maybe not but you get the idea!

We've pretty much finished the lower section of the cabin (at least it's all paneled but I have a little drywalling to finish still) and have started on the loft.

I love this stuff :)

The gables were done this way both because we like the look but also because it saves us from having to add nailers between the studs going up the incline of the roof.

Move the mill to a better spot -- but here's a note on the portability of an LT10.  NOT! lol  Truth is, you have to really do some work with some strapping young lads around to get the dang thing moved.  It just aint that portable, specially for someone in the late 40's or 50's+ who isn't in the best of shape.  Takes 3 men to lift the head off the rails and onto something to move and takes two to move the bed (one to strap it with a logging chain to the ATV and one to drive the ATV lol ).

Anyway, I love the mill, but it aint easy to move around.....next one will be bigger and on a trailer!

My daughter (Navy Corpsman) came out for the weekend to chop wood and hang out at the cabin :)  She burned slash too!  Great kid!

The pile of wood on the left is hers (meaning she chopped it all) and she also helped clean out and re-organize the woodshed so we could get it stocked up for the winter.  (notice the pile of blue stained pine milled and stacked and stickered in the back -- I plan to put a shed roof on back there to store milled lumber rather then under a tarp).

Wife and daughter (her step) -- they were a riot racing around on the ATV with a trailer picking up slash to burn in the burn pit and laughing all the way....great fun!

Cheers
Erik
