HUSKY 372,STIHL 044 OR SHINDAIWA 757?

[BASIC]

   Hi guys,happy Thanksgiving.I'll be in the market for a larger saw in the near future,right now I have a Shindaiwa 488 that I use for cleanups(I'm a landscaper).I'd like to buy a saw for larger clean-ups and cutting firewood commercially.The saws I'm looking at are the husky 372XP,Stihl 044 and the Shindaiwa 757.I have great dealers in my area for all three saws.The most important thing to me is reliability,I'd also like a saw with a broad power band.I'm also not trying to start a brand war,I'm sure all them are good,I just want to find the one that will suit me best.Any suggestions?Thanks,Basic.

The 372 is hard to beat, that will probably be my next one.

I just got my 372 this fall and after cutting about 30 face cords of firewood with it I would highly recommend one.

If you have had good service from th Shin---, why not stay with that brand?  You would have the same dealer, same gass mix, etc.

   D_Frederick,sir my Shindaiwa dealer is also the Husky dealer.I also think while the 488 might have been the best choice in a small saw for me,it may or may not be the best choice in a larger saw,thats what I hope to find out with the help of you all,thanks,BASIC

Hey Basic, My vote is the 372 xp. I have one it is a great saw ,has lots of power and is light for it's size. I have had mine for a little over a year now , cutting mostly fire wood, I have also run it about 130 hours on an Alaskan mill.

Love my 372. bought mine used from a local logger, so it had a lot of hard hours on it, and it still runs flat out and starts easy.
I just look for reasons to pull it out.

It appears that the 372 is a well respected saw.  I've never used one but do have an 044.  We've worn out severa saws of various makes and presently use several Stihl's of various sizes.  If I were to be limited to one saw,  of all those that I've had experience with ,  I would choose the 044.

I'm sure the Husky or Stihl would either do you a good job and probably that other one as well.  I'd try to get them side by side and see which one felt the best to you.  Compare the dealers as well as the saws.

   what about a jonsered i have one and have never had a problom with it it's about 10 years old and i just cut fire wood with it..that is a lot of blocks of wood..

Currently own a 039 and 066 Stihl, but had owned Huskies all my life.  For saw weight to displacement,  I am stihl sold on Huskies.  Have you seen that add in some of the journal from I think, Commercial cutters in New York, a 372xp with 20" bar $550.  Sounds like a good deal.

I have a stihl and a husky so I can't think you'd go wrong with either one. I personally like my 036pro the best. With a 20" bar on it will cut through anything you put it against. It is not a lot of weight and has a nice balance to it. When you saw a lot the extra weight of a bigger saw gets to ya quick. I would try to match the size of saw to what you are going to be cutting most.

For all intents and purposes, the modern Huskies and Jonsereds are the same saws. Husky bought Jonsered sometime back. 10 years from now though, I am more confident that Husky will be around, don’t know with Jonsered. All things being equal, I like the looks of the Jreds a little better.

  i just got back from the woods and i was working with my jred and a guy brote out a huske and i tried that and i will keep my jred ..to much screaming with the husky good saw but i still love the jred..
