What is the max size bar you would recommend for a 042 Stihl?

It would most likely pull a 28-32" but it would like a 20" better .

An 042 is kind of an oddball size ,larger than a 60 cc but smaller than 70-72 .Its' larger brother the 048 handles a 32" pretty well but I've never tried it on the one 042 I own which BTW doesn't see much action .That saw BTW last saw any action when Cut for fun ran it at a GTG maybe a year and a half ago in the antique class .

I had an 042 a few years back, and it pulled a 25 inch bar great.
Wish I still had that saw.
