A square hay bailer has to be one of the most interesting pieces of machinery, its like a three ring circus.Have you ever tried to watch the knotter tie?? many times I've pulled it over by hand just to watch when it reaches the interesting part snap all tied and I didn't see a thing. Frank C.

We do few small square bales anymore. Hard to find help to put it up so we've gone to a neighbor that has a large square baler to put it up for us.

Frank you are right though they are a marvel of mechanical engineering...when they work right. :D

Neighbor was over with his new baler to do the alfalfa on our terraces.

It is going to rain soon so he baled on Memorial Day.

I figure it'll be a couple weeks before I get started.  The orchard grass is headed out and the brome is well on its way.  Things are early here.  I'd like to see another good rain before we start and not for a couple weeks after that  :)

I believe that's the largest baling rig I have ever seen.  wow.  Now that would shorten my time in the field.  I bet those bales are a booger to stack by hand :D.

Thanks guys. :)

We are one of the few around here to have much acreage in alfalfa anymore. We use it in the rotation where you can get it to grow well. Unfortunately we have lots of wet bottom ground land that is only able to grow corn or beans.

Yea, they are heavy! They have to call in the muscle (that's me  ;D ) when we stack those bad boys.

Well I am done with the first cutting. All fields mowed, baled and sold. I didn't put one single bale in the barn, folks bought it quick as it hit the ground. The last ten acres I was doing some heavy duty praying that it wouldn't rain. It rained like pouring pith out of a boot about 1/8 of a mile away but it held off of us till we got all the hay up.

Norm and Patty,

What's the water/liquid tank on top of the baler for?
Kubota L-4200, Chainsaw, Bush Hog, and 85 acres of trees I'm not sure what to do with but I sure do have fun!

That's a chemical you spray on the alfalfa before it goes into the baler to allow it to be baled at a little higher moisture level.
