This has been a great week. I went through DC and won't do that again but once in Pa. had a great time. My Ships reunion, USS Eaton DD-510 was great fun and I had the chance to listen to all the old lies from my fellow shipmates as well as some new ones from shipmates before me, back into the 40's. It was great being 18 again !

I also visited a small manual mill in York, a big mill in Annville and had a really good visit with Ron Wenrich.

Ron saws in a mill not too far off of I-78 and we discussed hardwood values and looked at logs that were practically foreign to me. Yes, we have some wood of that type here but nothing to compare with the beautiful logs I saw on his log yard. He also showed me their firewood processor and the logs they fed into it. We would have been proud to have had some of their trash for sawlogs down here.

I'll have to admit that we have some pretty pine here in Fla. and I could make his mouth water with it if he were to visit sometime.

What a great house he has. I had the opportunity to tour it with a guide

and it makes me jealous. He has a lot of work to do yet on "this old house" but you should see what he has done so far. The natural wood ceilings and floors are great and he has built some cabinets that look like they belong. The Carpenter a hundred years ago would be proud to see what Ron has done.

I was surprised to find Ron similar to me both in appearance and philosophy. I had a great time. Thanks for the time Ron.
