Similar to the 261 ... http://www.powermadeeasy.com/husqvarna/chainsaw/homeowner.htm
Older saw, some parts may be difficult to find.

Ron I have 2 of them, but I don't have the Rancher model. They are a very well built and dependable saw. The 61 had been built for a lot of years. If you check the ID tag on the saw it will tell you the year it was produced. These last two I have where built in '97, so parts should be no problem.

I noticed the other day that a Husky dealer was selling a 55 Rancher, and I asked her if that saw hadn't been discontinued, and she said "not in Canada, no way... that's our most popular saw."  So it's possible that you may be able to find parts even for older/discontinued Huskies in Canada, or maybe other countries...

Do you know if any of the parts swap between the two?

My partner had a very early rancher, and some of the parts didn't swap. But from what I remember all the critical components did. I'm not sure about the later models.

I know that most parts from the 272 line will swap with the 61

my dad has an old 61 rancher that he broke the fuel tank on and i put a tank from a worn out 272 on it.

I have a 61 that I bought in '93.  It lives on the back of my truck and runs like a bandit with about 3 pulls.  It's sawed down oak and pine, trimmed sawlogs, spllit big live oaks and keeps asking for more.

The 61 was one of most popular pulpwood saws around here.
