All of Arkansas has got a lot of rain over the past week or so. It rained where the In-Woods Exp was being held the day and evening before. The roads were muddy as well as the exhibit areas.
We were on one of the first few busses to arrive. The show area was about 9 miles from the parking lot! It was very steamy and had a light mist thing going on but otherwise OK. At least there were no bugs.

The show was for large scale timber harvesting with heavy state-of-the-art equipment. For us (small sawmill operation), it was a good show but not very valuable.

Big toys for BIG BOYS!

We did get to watch the Stihl Ironjack competition. Brooke really liked that.

She helped the man wipe down the bleachers after the show and then helped him paint Stihl on the ends of the wood slices.

Mud was everywhere. Here is where they left the Wood-Mizer truck – just a little stuck.

Wood-Mizer really drew a bad location – up on a bank where people had to cross a ditch of red clay soup to get across where they could see the mills. They were sawing logs from trees that had to be removed to give them room to setup. These were from plantation trees – some about a foot on the stump. Not much of a challenge for the LT40HDG36 Super. I was amazed at how fast these trees grew. I bet I’ve got underwear older than some of these trees.

Baker was right across the street with their one mill. They had a little better spot. At least they didn’t have a bank for the attendees to climb. The show was working feverishly putting down wood chips to cover some of the mud.

Here is Sam and Sam. Sam, on the left is RMay’s brother-in-law and helps RMay saw. Sam on the right helps out Arkansawyer. I thought I got a picture of RMay and Arkansawyer but somehow it didn’t take. I think it was Arkansawyer’s fault.

Wood-Mizer also had an LT15 at the show. Here is a picture of their new clamp.
By about 1:00pm we had walked from one end and most of the way back. We noted the long like at the food stands and decided we’d seen enough. Back on the bus and to the lot to head home. The weather was getting nicer and more people were coming in.
