Need source for 20ft Hemlock saw logs.
« on: March 13, 2010, 12:23:35 am »
I have an order for 10,500 BF of 1x12x20ft Hemlock rough sawn barn siding (green).

I have a sawyer in SW Wisconsin who will cut it for me, so I am looking for a source near the upper midwest for the logs.

I also know that this is late in the logging season, but I just got this order and now I am trying to fill it...

Any leads would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Rooster

Rooster,

Give Kretz Lumber a call up in Antigo, WI. They own thousands of acres of land up in that neck of the woods and have access to a lot of Hemlock. They may still be cutting right now. Also, the Menominee Indian tribe over towards Shawano / Neopit are a good source for nice Hemlock logs and big White Pine. You could probably get it milled as well. If you were to run one add in the classified section of the Antigo Daily Journal - "Wanted Large Hemlock Logs / Lumber" - you'd probably get hooked up. Those are my old stomping grounds.  :)

Good Luck,
